DSIC (Computer System and Computing)
Department Building at Valencia’s polytechnic University (UPV)
It is an administrative and educational building, in which an office module-type is systematically repeated. They are grouped along the passageway, incorporating some teaching spaces on the ground floor.
Matters relating the program, orientation, building systems and the dimensions determined by the surroundings, define the composition.
Each different choice of materials for the façade comes from the specific use given to the area they cover: a continuous aluminium layer is associated with service areas, the cement panels’ finish relate to the services central bay, and the stone is connected with the ground level’s plinth
Modulation is also reflected in timber cutting and façades cladding; the building method becomes, in this way, part of the composition.
