City Library

The main project’s idea is to close off the building, precisely and clearly, to the road of Valldigna and to open it up to the square which finishes off the Paseo de Lepanto.

This closure was materialized with a continuous facade fair-face red brick, on a concrete base, following the road slight curve, with no more opening than the gap formed by the two storey library.

On the other side, the south façade, the town offers a pedestrian walk which feels kinder, and the building opens with nearly completely glazed spaces within the concrete structure. The library’s facade accompanies the visitor through the square to the House of Culture entrance lobby, in which the logical sequence continues; it started on the promenade (Paseo), follows the square, then the two levels entrance lobby, continues by gaining access to the main hall, following the auditorium and, finally, the stage.
